I'm Rooting for the Best Team This Year

I was hanging out some laundry and suddenly heard some loud shouting and screaming coming from my neighbor’s house. My heart started to race and I listened intently to see if I could figure out the reason for the commotion. It turned out that what I was hearing was their passionate support for their favorite World Cup team.

You can easily know which team someone is cheering on? They wear their team’s t-shirts and colours; buy, display and wave the flag of their team’s country, and like my neighbours, shout and scream and just celebrate excitedly when their team scores goals. Not to mention, they boast endlessly about their team's virtues and successes, and cheer wildly when they win.

Which team are your rooting for?

Well, I am rooting for team me!!! How about you? Are you rooting for team you?

Are you cheering yourself on, or are you waiting for others to cheer you on? Even worse, are you listening to the naysayers of the opposing side telling you that you can’t win at whatever you are dreaming of doing?

How about having the attitude of the little train engine in the children’s story ‘the Little Engine that Could” and repeatedly tell yourself “I know I Can, I know I Can!!!” and never give up until you do. If you don’t know the story. Check it out. It’s a great read.

The other way to cheer for "team you" is to CELEBRATE your wins. Recognize and acknowledge and wildly celebrate every little win you have. Any progress you have made, however little. Every positive thing you have done to impact and support others. Every success you have achieved, no matter how small. Treat yourself to a favourite meal or snack or movie. Whatever feels like a celebration to you, do it! Even better, celebrate with friends - get together for a pot-luck Lyme (party) and have some well-deserved fun, food, fellowship, and laughter.

She is sharing from her own experiences for women who are holding back, or living on autopilot; who believe their identities are in others and, or in what they do; or who neglect themselves while sacrificially taking care of others. She hopes that together Christian women can embrace the future with the beautiful hope of transformation one step at a time.

Philippians 4:13 says "I we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength". So how do you cheer yourself on? By your AFFIRMATIONS or DECLARATIONS. Declare the things you want to be true of yourself as if they already are and keep saying them even when the "World Cup season" is over.

Cheer yourself on every day. In Proverbs 23:7 we read "as a man thinks in his heart, so he is", so think about what you think about. Here are my affirmations to guide you to create your own.
