Take the Time

Last week my husband and I celebrated 31 years of wedded bliss (alright, alright, not always bliss, but enough to keep us going LOL).

We took some time away from our work, to acknowledge this moment in our lives, reflect, and dream about how we want to spend our future years together.

Believe me, it would not be possible to last 31 years without regularly recharging and resetting individually and as a couple.

“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

Even during this rendezvous together, here I am (well my legs) in this photo above, taking some time alone to do my own reflection. I intentionally came down to the beach a few minutes before my husband did in order to have this alone time.

Even when two “become one” in marriage, it is still critical to have alone time for reflection as part of one’s recharge and reset routine. Why? my single readers might be asking. The married ones know.

On a serious note, ladies it is important to take time to reflect on your life and goals and to appreciate the present moment.

You may have heard this before, but it's worth repeating: you need to take time for yourself.

It's easy for us all to get caught up in our daily routines and forget about what we really want from life--and even easier when we're feeling overwhelmed by stress or anxiety. But if you don't take time out of each day for yourself, then you'll never get any closer to reaching those goals of yours!

Trust me, I’m a better wife because of the time I take each day to be alone, and this may very well be a huge factor in the longevity of our marriage.

After this time away from the regular routines, I feel reenergized and ready to take on another 31 years of marriage.

YOUR WEEKEND RESET TIP

Starting this weekend, every week (or at least once a month), set aside some time just for reflection and appreciation of all that is good in your life right now--even if only five minutes here or there, that will do it at first.

I love to meditate on scripture during my time alone.

Please share your favourite thing to do in your alone time in the comments.

Although time alone is important, of course, we are better together. God created us for community. If you don’t already belong to a community of like-minded women, feel free to join HERE my Recharge and Reset Community of women who together are fulfilling our God-given purpose and living the abundant life Jesus Christ died for us to have.
